SURGICAL OPTIONS FOR WEIGHT LOSS

At OWLSA we offer the following operations; all performed laparoscopically (keyhole surgery). Click on each to read more about them.

ROUX-EN-Y GASTRIC BYPASS

The standard that all other operations are measured against. The stomach is reduced to a smaller pouch and a bypass created from the new stomach to the small intestine.

SLEEVE GASTRECTOMY

The most popular weight loss operation in Australia. Involves removing three quarters of the stomach, creating a much smaller sleeve like pouch.

GASTRIC BAND REMOVAL

We don't put them in, but we are happy to remove them as a no gap procedure, and discuss other options.

MINI-GASTRIC BYPASS

A newer operation, also known as the One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass. Similar to the Roux-en-Y, but this technique involves only one join of the bowel (anastomosis).

REVISION SURGERY

If you have had weight loss surgery in the past, and are experiencing problems of weight regain, then it may be possible to improve your situation with a secondary or revision surgery.
